BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A total of 58 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bataan District Jail received free medical examination and medicines last June 17.
Dr. Cynthia P. Tuason-Guevarra, an internist at CTG Internal Medicine Clinic, and Dr. Rosalie M. Ocampo, a retired doctor of the Balanga City Health Office, volunteered to conduct the medical service aiming to help improve the health of PDLs as their payback for the blessings they receive.
The pre-assessment was done by assigned jail nurses, JO1 Aubrey Isip and JO1 Marijane Rosario, prior to examination of Dra. Guevarra.
JO1 Isip told this writer during an interview that Dra. Guevarra conducts regular assessments at the BDJ every Monday to ensure continuous provision of medical attention among the inmates as well as treatment of ailments.
Prior to this, a medical and dental mission was conducted last May by Bataan Peninsula State University College of Nursing and Midwifery headed by Dr. Ruby Matibag, wherein three (3) personnel at BDJ and 58 PDLs from both male and female dormitories received free medical and oral examinations and tooth extraction.
