BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Engineer Emmanuel Pineda ,chairman and administrator of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) is eyeing the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme for the building of economic housing and dormitory facilities with the expected influx of factory workers and their families at the country’s first export processing zone .
Engr. Pineda explained during the regular press conference held on Tuesday (March 12) at The Plaza Hotel that a number of factory workers of the 96 industrial and commercial factories operating inside the economic zone experience inconveniences for lack of affordable housing accommodations near their work places.
Engineer Pineda stressed the construction of dormitories and apartment-type structures in the industrial town would address the scarcity in housing accommodations.
Several Metro Manila and Central Luzon based real estate developers and corporate property leasing groups are exploring the rich housing business and investment potentials of AFAB and the historic town of Mariveles.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) board member Rolando Z. Tigas, chair of Committees on Infrastructure, Housing and Land Utilization has expressed his optimism that the expansion plan of AFAB would motivate investors to explore the productive housing projects to ensure the continuous eco-industrial growth of Bataan.
Board Member Tigas cited a newspaper report that numerous developers for lucrative and socialized housing subdivisions, hotels and retirement villages see a bright prospect in the construction and housing industry.
The highly-meaningful and sustainable development plan coupled with idealistic and productive perception of Bataan Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia of converting the sacred ground of the province to reach the epitome of prosperity is now on the right track with the expansion of ecozones and industrial estates, Tigas said.
Board Member Tigas, a former two-termer municipal mayor and a prominent building contractor in Central Luzon, is amazed with the latest shelter development status with the proliferation of socialized housing and middle-class communities in the periphery of Bataan’s progressive economic zones and industrial growth areas in Mariveles, Limay, Samal and Hermosa towns.
