AFAB starts to improve port services

MARIVELES, Bataan – The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) starts classifying the proposed designated areas of jurisdiction for proper and improved port services.

The move is part of AFAB’s intensified effort to establish linkages with various government agencies, port terminal operators, shipping companies and other related institutions.

Stella Caridad Mendreza, enterprise services officer V of AFAB’s enterprise department, met on Thursday with Capt. Rogelio Taruc, Sr., chief pilot of Manila Bay Harbor Pilots Partnership, to thresh out issues and concerns on the conduct of pilotage services, maritime safety and possible projects and plans on maritime safety and marine environmental protection in the FAB.

Engr. Emmanuel D. Pineda, AFAB chair and administrator, earlier reported that since the start of its operation in 2016, AFAB’s port services division generated a total of Php 46.6 million in port revenue.

The port services division offers services in facilitation on arrival of vessels, cargo shipments via sea port, and facilitation on third party service providers, and facilitation on departure of vessels.
