BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The significant role of Filipino – American soldiers in defending the sacred Bataan peninsula should serve as an undying inspiration of the youth in safeguarding the country’s most cherished freedom.
Board Member Jose C. Villapando, Sr., Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) chair of Committees on Transportation and Communications, Senior Citizens and Cooperatives extolled the gallantry and patriotic exploits of Filipino-American soldiers during the Second World War in the Bataan peninsula as worthy of emulation among the younger generations
In commemorating the 77th Araw ng Kagitingan on April 9 atop the historic Mount Samat with the theme “Sakripisyo ng beterano ay gunitain,tanglaw ng kabataan tungo sa kaunlaran“, BM Villapando suggested a conclusive educational program enriching the knowledge of the youth of healthier perspective of World War II scenario embodying the sacrifices of the veterans in defending the last bastion of democracy in South East Asia.
He pointed out the sacrifices made by our forefathers must be instilled permanently in the hearts of our youth as unifying factors in pursuing a progressive and business-friendly eco-tourism development plan for Mount Samat as envisioned by Bataan Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia.
Governor Garcia has acknowledged the great potential of Mount Samat National Shrine as one of the five newly-created tourism enterprise zones in the country to propel the continuous growth of leisure and tourism industry.
In celebrating the Araw ng Kagitingan, Villapando stressed that this momentous occasion is a way of ensuring that the next generations inherit the consequence of heroism in exploring all avenues toward prosperity.
