BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Determined to be a University Town, Balanga City, the capital of Bataan, is giving emphasis on education.
According to City Mayor Francis Garcia, the city government is doing its best to really strengthen and enhance the quality of education for children, as Dr. Jose Rizal said, “the youth is the hope of the fatherland,” that to start changing the landscape of our vision towards a brighter future, we should start it with our children, added City Mayor Francis.
This accent on education, which even improved this school year 2017-2018, has crowned Balanga City a Hall of Famer in National Literacy Award in 2016, a pride and honor that the city received over other cities vying for the same title, with bigger revenues.
Children studying in public schools and even those out of school youth in this city are enjoying wider access to quality education with the establishment of Barangay Learning Hub (BLH). In fact, three barangay halls have been converted as BLH, where sets of computers were installed with internet connection and learning modules.
This, according to the good mayor, is one way of indulging these children to worthwhile activities, for them to learn more even outside the school and spend hours during weekdays by visiting the nearest barangay learning hubs. It will still be remembered that the city government continued their program on “Batang Sining” last summer vacation to hone the skills of the children in creative arts.
Not only have these benefits been felt by the children but the community as a whole is reaping the fruits of these education reforms. The city government has equipped walkways with WI-FI enabled kiosks, that thru this internet hub along Capitol drive, people can be informed of the city’s activities, places to visit, announcements and other important details. Balanga City’s enhancing quality education has been a benchmark of excellence for other LGU’s to replicate.
