BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Residents of this city who are about to take review classes for board examinations need not worry anymore of shouldering all expenses.

The City Government of Balanga now offers financial assistance to graduates who will take review classes for licensure examinations in Engineering, Nursing, Accountancy, Education and other exams.

Applicants have to submit their certification from the review center, transcript of records/diploma, BIR certificate of tax exemption, birth certificate, barangay certificate of indigency, personal letter to the mayor, and voter’s ID. Requirements must be submitted to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) at the ground floor of Balanga City Hall. The application is only open to Balanga City residents, who may reach CSWDO at 237-0716.

This education grant is another notch higher to the existing, commendable scholarship program of the city that gives P6,000 per semester to college scholars.

Pioneered by the late statesman Enrique “Tet” Garcia and improved by his sons Governor Albert and 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique, the Iskolar ng Bataan program has been able to support the tertiary studies of over 85,000 students, teachers and indigenous people since 1995.

Now, Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia continues the vision that focuses hugely on quality education as he implements academically inclined programs like Barangay Learning Hub and Barangay Learning Week.
