CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – With the end goal of motivating people especially the youth in making them physically fit, as well as to spare them from bad vices, the Baras Bataan Street Workout is now offering free body exercises everyday at 3:30 p.m. in Doña Francisca Park, this City.
“Kami yung grupo kung saan libre yung workout. Kung baga sa gym may equipments, sa amin mostly body workout talaga,” said Mon Joseph Lumauig, vice-president of the association.
Founded last 2014 by Alec Brucal, Lumauig disclosed that since Brucal is a member of a stuntmen group in Manila, he decided to put up something like this in Bataan since he is a Bataeño to encourage people in engaging in calisthenics.
“Open kami sa lahat ng gustong sumali. Ang kailangan lang ay desidido talaga na maging malusog ang kanilang pangangatawan. At isa din sa mga layunin namin ay mailayo ang mga kabataan sa masamang bisyo tulad ng droga, para ma-divert ‘yung atensyon nila,” said Aaron Raphael Bustos, ambassador of the organization.
The activities of Baras Bataan include body weight trainings, push-ups, pull-ups and cardiovascular workouts.
A group that is recognized in helping and providing free calisthenics training program regardless of age and gender for no cost, Baras Bataan is now getting ready for the biggest global sports and charity event on September 10, 2016 known as the “World Pull-up Day.”
“Ang World Pull-up Day ay isang competition kung saan paramihan ng magagawang pull-ups. Last year, nag-rank three ang Philippines,” said Lumauig.
Composed mostly of students and out-of-school youths, the organization has more than a hundred members but only seventy plus are currently active, and for those who are interested to join Baras Bataan, you can get updates on their Facebook Page: Baras Bataan Street Workout.
