BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Government of Bataan, thru the Provincial Health Office (PHO) celebrated World Rabies Day, highlighted by an Orientation on Provincial Ordinance, Resolution No. 175 s. 2015, “An Ordinance Providing for a Comprehensive Animal Regulations and Rabies Control and Eradication in Bataan Province, Providing Penalties for Violations thereof, and Appropriating the Necessary Funds for the Purpose”.
Held this morning, September 28 at the Crown Royale Hotel this city, the event is attended by barangay officials, health workers and other stakeholders, especially those who are given authority to implement said ordinance aimed to address the common sources of rabies, identified as dogs and cats and provide the necessary measures to prevent loss of lives and further spread of the disease. Rabies is a highly infectious zoonotic and human disease with 100% fatality rate.
Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Rosanna Buccahan delivered the welcome remarks and acknowledged the participants. Hon. Noel Joseph Valdecanas, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Chair, Health Committee not only graced the occasion but also delivered an inspiring message to the attendees.
Mr. Jemuel Bornolia, HEPO, enlightened the participants thru his overview on rabies, while Ms. Bernadette Manahan, RPCP Coordinator discussed the status of the Human Rabies Program, both on the regional and provincial levels.
After the discussion on Resolution No. 175 s. 2015 led by BM Jose Villapando Sr., SP member on Health, the participants arrived at an agreement which was sealed thru the signing of a Pledge of Commitment.
