CAPITOL GROUNDS – After the confirmation of avian influenza virus (bird flu) outbreak in San Luis, Pampanga, Bataeños couldn’t help but get a little anxious about eating chicken meat. That is why this morning, during the flag raising ceremony, Dr. Albert Venturina (Head, Provincial Veterinarian Office) announced that it is safe to eat chicken meat here in the province.
“One does not get bird flu from thoroughly cooked chicken meat,” Dr. Venturina explained, giving assurance that bird flu hasn’t arrived in Bataan. “Ibig sabihin po, safe ito. Wala po tayong kaso ng bird flu dito sa Bataan. So lahat po ay pwedeng kumain ng manok.”
Dr. Venturina also promised that the Provincial Government through the Provincial Veterinarian Office will do their best to prevent the bird flu from entering the province. They have also scheduled meetings with concerned agencies to further discuss the outbreak.
