PILAR, Bataan – All roads lead to mountainous Barangay Liyang, of this town yesterday, November 19 for the blessing and inauguration of P50 million DOH Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (TRC), one of the most modern drug rehab sites in the country so far.
Dr. Elizabeth P. Serrano, chief of TRC, said the center has at present 90 residents undergoing treatment and rehabilitation for various drug addiction problems. The residents (or drugs dependents undergoing treatment) came from different parts of the country.
“But 60 percent of our residents are from Bataan, the rest come from Pampanga and other parts of Central and Northern Luzon,” added Dr. Serrano.
She said the center has a maximum of 220 actual bed capacity. “We have medical and dental facilities within the center,” Serrano said.
Relatives of residents are allowed to visit the center at least three times a week- Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The residents stay in the center from six to 12 months depending on the individual’s treatment procedure.
The center situated on 1.7 hectare mountainous land near the foot of historic Mt. Samat Shrine was the site of then Kabataang Barangay Training Center during the reign of Imee Marcos.
