BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Marie Antoinette Pangan, a native of Bataan, graduated valedictorian with a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada.
In a message to this writer by her Qatar-based older sister Abegale Pangan Bantugan, she narrated that it is a long road for her sister from the Philippines to graduating with honor a bachelor of science in nursing degree from UPEI.
She said her sister arrived in PEI 10 years ago and landed her first job at Island fish plant, and since then took different works.
She also said Maan, as fondly called, accomplished her dream to become a Canadian and PEI resident.
Abegale said Maan was also able to bring his son Gwyn Igor Pascual to Canada. She said her sister worked at Andrews of Charlottetowns since 2017.
According to her, becoming a nurse was also a dream for Maan.
“My first few years as student were like a roller coaster ride. I had been away from school for more than a decade and particularly struggled in English”, she quoted her sister telling her.
Abegale said her whole family is very proud of Maan’s achievement in Canada.
“She personifies hardwork and dedication”, she described her sister. “She brings honor to us”.
Abegale and Maan are children of Romulo Pangan of Nagbalayong, Morong and Priscilla Guevarra Pangan from Bagac. They have a brother Ralph Gregor Pangan.
Maan was born in Nagbalayong, and finished grade school at Bagac Elementary School.
