BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Of the 23,000 teachers who took the National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH) last December 2018, only 148 passed and a true blue Bataeña, Ms. Janny de Leon Manla, Master Teacher I at the Pablo Roman National High School topped the said test. This is the first time that a Bataeña tops said principal qualifying exam.
NQESH is the qualifying process of the DepEd in selecting school heads in the public education sector. The exam covers the following areas: School Leadership, Personal and Professional Attributes and Interpersonal Effectiveness, Instructional Leadership, Creating Student Centered Learning Climate, Human Resource Management and Professional Development, Parent Involvement and Community Partnership, School Management and Operations.
In an interview with Ms. Manla, she said that it was her first time to take said exam out of curiousity, just to find out how hard the exam is, that many teachers are failing. Hence topping the exam made her proud of her province. For her fellow teachers, Ms. Manla’s feat is no longer a surprise because even before, Janny has displayed outstanding skills and talent in different fields of endeavor. She excelled in the IELTS Band with a score of 8.5 (with 9 as the highest), TOEIC with a score of 950 over 1000. She also took part in the winning entry of DepEed Bataan for Most Outstanding Superintendent for Empowering Women’s Health at the Regional Level.
DepEd Bataan Division Superintendent Mr. Jesse Ferrer acknowledged Ms. Manla’s accomplishment by awarding her a certificate of recognition in a fitting ceremony during yesterday’s flag raising ceremony.
