CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Provincial Government of Bataan together with the Department of Education Bataan and the Bataan Public School Teachers and Employees Association (BPSTEA) held the 10th Teachers’ Congress today, July 28, 2017, at Bataan People’s Center, this city.
With a theme “BPSTEA Sama-sama sa K-12 Kabataan Malaki ang Pag-asa”, different leaders of education graced the event. Mr. Jessie D. Ferrer, CESO V (SDS, DepEd Bataan), Ms. Olivia Lumbre (Teacher III, Orani North ES/Asst. Treasurer, BPSTEA), Former 1st District Board Member Mr. Gaudencio Ferrer, Mr. Quirino Barlis (President, BPSTEA), and Dr. Malcolm S. Garma (Director, DepEd Region III) were present and gave their short messages.
Dr. Garma caught the attention of the guests when he used an unusual way of delivering a message. Unlike other speakers who talked behind the rostrum, he roamed around the whole place as he spoke, giving the audience a sense of connection to him. “Ang isa pong layunin kung bakit ako naririto ay ito po ang pagkakataon na makadaupang palad ko ang ating mga guro dahil wala pong ibang importanteng personnel o personalidad sa ating institusyon kundi po ang ating mga guro. Kayo po ang bumubuhay ng ating institusyon,” he said in his message.
Ms. Carmelita Llamzon (Treasurer, BPSTEA) was also present and gave some updates regarding the important matters in BPSTEA.
Isang Guro Party, Bataan Teachers and Employees Confederation (BATEC) and Makaguro Party were the candidates for the new officers of BPSTEA which were presented by Ms. Leticia Orpiano.
The congress was attended by more than 6,000 public school teachers and employees in the province.
