BALANGA CITY, Bataan – DepEd Bataan launched yesterday the week long Brigada Eskwela in all public schools provincewide, with students, teachers, parents and civic organizations participating to make sure the schools are ready for the opening of classes by June.
At the Bataan National High School, the PTA officers lead the kick- off ceremony attended by the parents, students, teachers and private partners.
One parent even remarked that, she took a leave from her work just so she can take part in the Brigada Eskwela.
The activities included cleaning the rooms, school ground, repairing of desks and tables, repainting.
BNHS Principal, Mrs. Merlie Dominguez said that Brigada Eskwela started in 2003 to address the gaps faced by DepEd through strengthened partnership with parents, volunteers and civic organizations.
While Brigada Eskwela is voluntary, Dominguez said that they don’t encourage stakeholders to donate cash for Brigada activities; they instead encourage them to participate for camarederie and for partners to bring materials that they need for cleaning, repairing, repainting and other activities.
