BALANGA CITY, Bataan- The town of Mariveles is carrying out a comprehensive inventory of tourist spots and historical landmarks for appraisal and expansion to generate a competent system of making the country’s first export processing zone a truly major tourist destination.
Ms. Charlene B. Versoza, newly-designated Mariveles Tourism Officer, has mentioned the overwhelming encouragement of Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion, the municipal tourism council and private sectors in formulating the plan that would provide strategic direction for the development of travel and tourism industry.
As host of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), one of the fastest growing ecozones in Central Luzon and with inherent natural resources of significant values, Mariveles is envisioned to become an eco-industrial and tourism hub.
Ms. Versoza explained the eco-tourism development program would ensure inclusive growth in the tourism market in the periphery of Mount Mariveles which remains untapped as trekking resort adventures for rural enterprise productivity.
One aspect of prospective tourism in the industrial town is the preservation of the once verdant forest by revitalizing the wholesome environment with marvelous landscape amidst the sparkling pristine waters of the West Philippine Sea and Manila Bay.
According to Ms. Versoza, Mariveles’ Five Fingers is an extraordinary rock formation located in the tip of Bataan peninsula, considered as home to all kinds of marine life, the cove to cove escapade touches of Talaga Beach, Apatot Cove, Pulong Kawayan Cove,Tinaltakan Cove and Nagbentana Arch. These marvelous islets look like the famous Batanes isles.
