Dancing Chikiting 2016

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – In celebration of this year’s Nutrition Month, the Bataan Child Empowerment Council (BCEC) chaired by Mrs. Victoria S. Garcia sponsored a dancing contest dubbed “Dancing Chikiting 2016” held at the Camp Cirilo Tolentino covered court in this City, this afternoon, July 19.
Beneficiaries of the BCEC programs and services are around 485 children who attend the Child Development Centers in indigenous communities all over the province. The BCEC attends to the health, nutrition and educational needs of these children in the form of monthly medical and dental check-ups, supply of common medicines, deworming medicines and food supplements. For their nutrition, the BCEC and the PSWDO serve them hot meals every day for 10 months every year. For their educational needs, they are provided school supplies and uniforms among others.
Ten groups from the municipalities of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Samal, Abucay, Pilar, Orion, Mariveles, Bagac and Morong actively took part in the dancing contest, donning their colorful Zumba attires.
Major Ricardo Santiago, Police Community Relations Branch Officer of the Bataan PNP graced the occasion as well as personnel from the KABALIKAT.
After almost an hour of exhibiting their dancing prowess, the children from the Tabon Child Development Center (CDC) in Pilar bagged the first place, followed by the Pag-asa CDC in Bagac and coming third place is the Bayan-Bayanan CDC in Orion. The other seven contenders did not go home empty handed for they also received consolation prizes.
Composing the board of judges were Mrs. Rosanna Verdida of the Provincial Population Office, Mrs. Jonna Jane Austria from the Provincial Health Office and Ms. Aida R. Rubiano, Editor-in-Chief of 1BataanFB page.
Ms. Cristina Vergara of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) conveyed the warm greetings and gratitude of PSWDO Head, Mrs. Marilyn Tigas.
