MARIVELES, Bataan – DENR Bataan has conducted 3rd successive shore cleanups in Barangay Lucanin, this town, in line with the Battle for Manila Bay program of the Duterte administration.
The local environment office led by PENRO Raul Mamac and Barangay Lucanin various groups headed by Capt. Ludy Funilas were able to collect 550 large sacks of trash from Sitio Centro, Barangay Lucanin.
DENR said 180 government workers and volunteers participated.
Various groups that included Police Provincial Mobile Command Second District, teachers and students of Lucanin Elem School, Kalipi, Kabalikat, and 4Ps beneficiaries joined in the shore cleanup.
Aside from Barangay Lucanin Council, the Barangay Council of Alion, Mariveles led by Capt. Al Balan also joined.
During the simultaneous launching 3 weeks ago of the Battle for Manila Bay in Villa Imperial participated by 1,622 volunteers and government workers, 700 sacks of wastes were taken from the Lucanin shore. Another 280 sacks of trash were taken from shore of Brgy. Alangan, Limay, making the total number to 980 sacks of waste hauled from the province.
Two weeks ago, DENR Bataan personnel hauled 76 sacks of trash also from the shore of Villa Imperial.
“We will do the shore cleanup in Bataan weekly”, said Mamac.
The Battle for Manila Bay, a program of the national administration, is a 7-year initiative with 3 phases: cleanup, rehabilitation, and sustainability. DENR thru the leadership of Sec. Roy Cimatu is the lead agency.
