BALANGA City, Bataan – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources regional office and the Orani Water District (OWD) expressed support for the Provincial Government of Bataan’s attempt to break the current Guinness World Record for most trees planted in a single site within one hour.
Gov Abet S Garcia, through the Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) had already sought the help of various sectors in the province, including students to launch a massive tree planting come June 25.
An orientation meeting for volunteers was held recently at the Bataan People’s Center, this City to map out plans for the said environmental program. Victor Ubaldo, PG-ENRO Head, met recently with DENR director Francisco Milla, Jr., to seek their technical assistance on the said program where the director expressed support for the greening project.
Informed of the program, Benigno Andres, General Manager of OWD, who had spearheaded a number of tree planting in Mt Tala, Orani town, also expressed his support for the said massive tree planting program, “We just want to know how could we help,” said Andres.
Ubaldo said their recent meeting was in connection with the comprehensive tree planting activity tagged as “Bataan Green Legacy Program” which will take place on June 25, 2016, at Brgy. General Lim, Orion, Bataan.
Ubaldo said the tree planting activity is open to all the stakeholders of Bataan, male or female, who are physically fit to hike a minimum of 1.5 kilometers from unloading area to planting site and plant seedlings for one hour.
The tree planting attempt on June 25 coincides with the celebration of Arbor Day and Environment Month.
