BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Gone are the days when public school children have no books to use in school. The Learning Resources Management and Development Section (LRMDS) of the Department of Education-Bataan put an end to this problem by providing story books to preschool children and self learning kits for all public school children from grade 1 to grade 12 all over Bataan.
LRMDS Education Program Supervisor, Edgar Garcia told this writer that the books were locally developed by LRMDS – Bataan. The writers, illustrators, layout artists, and evaluators are all public school teachers. The program started in 2017 when LRMDS produced their first batch of big books, story books and self learning kits. Comic books were also added in their latest batch, not just to entertain the children but for them to learn something from it.
For the upcoming batch, LRMDS will now include manuals to be used by the teachers as reference materials as the book tackles the performance evaluation of students based on the standard learning outcomes of the Department of Education.
The newly reproduced books are warehoused at the Bataan Command Center in Orani and distribution started yesterday, June 18. Public school officials may pick up the books at the Bataan Command Center in Orani from June 18 to 28.
This is DepEd-Bataan’s way of ensuring that every student in public schools will have access to books and make learning easier and better..
