Likewise, the best practices of winning BKD chapters which will serve as model for other schools,” Torno added.
BKD is a collective action among the students and the youth in the community that strengthens camaraderie, collaboration, cooperation, solidarity and linkages in the commitment to attain a drug-free lifestyle.
It was borne out of a series of seminars conducted as a preventive and information program.
A total of 344 BKD Chapters were organized nationwide from 2004 to 2017 with total membership of about 90,900.
“In support to President Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs, DepEd is continuously strengthening the NDEP which is a comprehensive educational program that provides a holistic approach in preventing and eliminating the menace of drugs in the country,” Torno explained.
NDEP enables all sectors to work collaboratively, with the school system as the core, thereby unifying all sectoral endeavors.
It has five components that DepEd builds on to create awareness on the ill effects of using illegal drugs namely curriculum and instruction; co-curricular and ancillary services; teacher and staff development; parent education and community outreach; and research, monitoring, and evaluation.
