CITY of SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with government and private sector partners on strengthening of Local Governance Regional Resource Center (LGRRC).
It serves as a dynamic center of learning, a multi-media program for knowledge-sharing on local government, and as a complement strategy in the development of local government unit (LGU) capacities.
“This partnership intends to closely bring government agencies and private stakeholders in sharing of resources and expertise for a more productive and effective service to the people,” DILG Regional Director Julie J. Daquioag said.
Partners include the Civil Service Commission, Department of Budget and Management, National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine National Police, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Education, Department of Health, and Environmental Management Bureau.
Also the Department of Trade and Industry, National Housing Authority, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Local Government Finance, Philippine Information Agency, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, National Police Commission, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Politics, Holy Angel University, Central Luzon State University, Don Honorio Ventura State University, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Columban College, Tarlac State University, Government Service Insurance System, and My Creative Panda Web Page Design and Development Consultancy Services.
Provisions in the agreement direct the DILG to ensure the sustainability and dynamism of four components of the LGRRC namely multimedia knowledge and information, capacity development, public education on good governance and citizenship development, and linkage program to ensure responsiveness to the information/learning need of the region.
On the part of the partners, they shall make accessible or available to LGUs and other secondary users their respective knowledge products and mobilize resources to support knowledge management programs and plans.
LGRRC is a one-stop-shop for knowledge management and products concerning local governance.
