BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A vacant lot that used to be a mini-dumpsite in Barangay Cupang North in this city had been converted to what is now known as “Disiplina” Park.
The park was inaugurated last March 26 by the city environment and natural resources officials, City Vice Mayor Vianca Lita Gozon and barangay officials of Cupang North.
Balanga City Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia said the Cenro had thought the idea of transforming idle public lands into something where local residents can hie off to with their families and friends for relaxation.
Joan Consus, information writer of Balanga City, said the ‘Disiplina’ Park is part of Manila Bay Rehabilitation campaign recently launched by the national government to clean up the coastal areas in the country. She said prominently displayed in the Park is the large poster of “Environment Do’s and Don’ts” or a “Panata ng Kalikasan” aimed at educating local folks on environment care.
A similar park is also planned in the villages of Cataning and Sibacan, said Consus. She said this is first of its kind in Balanga, if not in the whole province of Bataan.
