DOH TRC – Bataan celebrates International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Department of Health Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH TRC) Bataan will be celebrating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) on July 4 with no less than Secretary Catalino Cuy of the Dangerous Drugs Board as the keynote speaker.
The activity will be comprised of a drug awareness forum and a stage play that will showcase the talents of the residents of the Center.
Initially observed by the UN General Assembly in 1987, the event is commemorated every 26TH of June each year.
The core of this celebration is to raise awareness on the problems brought upon by illicit drugs to each individual – eventually affecting their families and the society.
Last year, DOH TRC Bataan went to different schools to spread a proper understanding of the intensity of drug addiction. This year, the center took a step further by preparing a stage play that will visualize the effects of illegal drugs.
Aside from showing the consequences of drug abuse, the theatrical play also aims to highlight the talents of recovering addicts. In doing so, the Center hopes to open the minds of the people in the community to the possibility of giving the residents a chance to reintegrate in the society without being judged.
The IDADAIT celebration will be held at the Bataan People’s Center, Capitol Compound, Balanga City, Bataan at 3 o’clock in the afternoon (3PM).
