CAPITOL COMPOUND – Gov. Abet Garcia, together with DOLE-Bataan Field Officer Rico Val Bacuyag and PESO Bataan chief, Mr. Melchor Cui led the awarding of food carts to vendors who qualified as beneficiaries of the livelihood assistance program of DOLE and the Provincial Government of Bataan, during yesterday’s flag raising ceremony held at the Bataan People’s Center, this City.
Part of DOLE’s mandate is to promote gainful employment opportunities and at the same time provide safe, decent, humane and improved working conditions and environment for all workers, particularly women and young workers.
One of the beneficiaries is Lolita Miranda, popularly known as Aling Lita among her “suki” at the Capitol compound. She received a starter kit for the fruits she sells among Capitol employees. Another beneficiary, Divina Perez is a “samalamig” and street foods vendor. With the negokart she received, she now has a better stall at a corner near the Bataan Library. The same thing is true with Mina Azucena who also sells street foods in Doña Francisca Subdivision.
