BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Bataan) Provincial Director Nelin Cabahug, during the last Press Conference with the media, said that their top of the line programs and projects have been effectively rendered in the year 2018 and that DTI has been tagged as the Dept. of Tales and Inspiration for it has been changing lives of people.
DTI-Bataan believes that that their contribution in enabling and empowering investors and consumers as main economic catalysts, was able to help in the continuous mission/vision of the province with the least poverty incidence.
Cabahug said that among the programs that marked these monumental achievements are their Diskwento Caravan held last May 2018 at Plaza Mayor in Balanga City in time for the opening of classes, participated in by 102 exhibitors composed of shoe manufacturers, dry goods, native products,
bags, school supplies, uniforms and other products which
garnered a total sale of P3.2 Million.
DTI also boasts of their 595 new SME’s developed wherein a total of 1, 865 micro entrepreneurs were provided assistance thru the Kapatid Mentor Me Project, while Negosyo Centers were launched, the latest of which are in the Municipalities of Orion and Mariveles. To date, they now have a total of 9 Negosyo Centers in the province.
As a result of their roving academy or SMERA on product enhancement like bags in Mariveles, Yamang Pinoy fund was infused through raw materials, which benefited more than 30 detainees of OPLAN tokhang; they were the ones who hand painted and did the beading works on the bags, in the process, they provided their families income while under rehabilitation.
For actions on consumer complaints, they were able to accomplish more
than their target which is an indication, according to them, that consumers are now more aware of their rights and at the same time trust the DTI.
