Galing Bataan Trade Fair 2016 formally opens


CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Provincial Tourism Office, in coordination with the City Government of Balanga and the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) has formally opened the Galing Bataan Trade Fair 2016, this morning at the Plaza Mayor, this City.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by the Ms. Zenaida Gonzales, the guest of honor, Ms. Nelin Cabahug of the Department of Trade and Industry-Bataan, Mr. Rudy de Mesa, Balanga City Administrator, Mayor Jesse Concepcion of Mariveles, and some department heads of the City of Balanga (COB) and the PGB.


After the ribbon-cutting, all the participants headed to Crown Royale Hotel, also in this City, for a short program.


“Sa pagsho-showcase ng ating mga produkto, dito nakikita ang creativity ng mga Bataeño, so mahalaga na ma-promote natin ito,” said COB Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III.


The hardworking mayor also reported that this year, there will be a partnership with Smart wherein the e-Tindahan will be launched. He also encouraged the participating businessmen to join the said undertaking.


Meanwhile, the guest of honor, Ms. Zenaida Gonzales, shared her “from rags to riches” story wherein she said that she started from being a vendor of fishball or tuhog-tuhog before she became an owner and general manager of Michelle’s Cakes and Pastries and her latest venture, the Stregato Gelateria.


“Nag-aral ako nang nag-aral para madagdagan yung knowledge ko when it comes to business,” she said, as she nurtured her passion for business throughout the years by continuously enriching herself through workshops and certificate programs in research and development which she gained in University of the Philippines-Diliman, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, France, Germany and Belgium.


At the end of the program, Ms. Zenaida Gonzales was then conferred a recognition called “Galing Bataeño Awardee.”


Various Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Bataan, most of whom are members of the Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BACCI) and the Bataan Association of Food and Non-Food Manufacturers’ Incorporated (BAFNOFMAI), participated in the said event.
