BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Focused on the realization of the province’s vision that by the year 2020, Bataan will attain the highest Human Development Index (HDI) in the country, the provincial office of the Department of Health (DOH) held a convention on Service Delivery Network (SDN) among stakeholders, especially members of the Sangguniang Barangay, last Friday at the Crown Royale Hotel in this City.
The Service Delivery Network is a system that will facilitate communication among all health facilities from the barangay up to the provincial level.
Said convention aims not only to provide sufficient background on the services offered by all health facilities in the province but also to establish and institutionalize a people-centered SDN framework to be organized and utilized by the LGU staff in coordination with the DOH to effectively deliver health care services to priority population.
Provincial Health Team Leader Dr. Francisco Hermoso III, in an exclusive interview explained the essence of this system.
“First, we have the Barangay Health Stations wherein nandun ang mga barangay health workers at mga midwives. From the barangay health worker ire-refer sa midwives kung hindi makakaya ang pasyente. Still, kung hindi pa rin makakaya ng midwife, they will be referred to a Rural Health Unit or Municipal Health Offices in which rural health physicians will attend to said patients. Ibigsabihin lang nito,‘yung networking mas mabilis at mas maganda dahil nag-uusap-usap sila,”
Further, he praised Gov. Albert S. Garcia for the passion he constantly shows in bettering the health sector.
“Sa increasing life expectancy, isa sa talagang tiningnang mabuti ni governor ay ‘yung Service Delivery Network… Nagpapasalamat kami dahil talagang on board siya sa health plus meron pa kaming guidance. Siya mismo ang nagga-guide,” Hermoso added.
Further, Dr. Hermoso expressed his gladness to see a leader who does not just lead but also has a broad understanding on such issues. “Nakakatuwa nga eh kasi may mga questions from barangay officials na dapat kami ang sasagot, pero siya mismo ang sumasagot… Nag-aaral si Governor at nalalaman niya what is happening sa health system natin,” he added.
