HERMOSA, Bataan – The use plastic bags in business establishments, fastfood outlets, by market and ambulant vendors, here had been prohibited in this fast-growing municipality.
The Sangguniang Bayan (municipal council) of Hermosa passed on February 5, 2018 Ordinance No. 4 prohibiting the use of plastic bags on dry goods and regulating its use on wet goods.
The municipal government, however, through its technical working group (TWG), encouraged the use of recyclable and/or biodegradable alternative packaging materials.
It promotes the use of woven bags (bayong), cloth bags, rattan baskets, shopping bags made from recyclable waste papers, and other bags made out of biodegradable materials which shall be used as alternative packaging packaging materials.
Violators of the said ordinance shall be fined P500 for the first offense; P1,000 for second; P2,500 for third, plus revocation of business permit.
