CITY of BALANGA, Bataan — “We should always remember and honor our veterans for the freedom we have today,” said Undersecretary of Civil, Veterans, and Retiree Affairs and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) Assistant Secretary Deputy Administrator Reynaldo Mapagu during the Parangal para sa mga Beterano and the float parade joined by different municipalities in participation of the week long celebration of 77th Araw ng Kagitingan held at Capitol Compound, this city, last April 8.
A total of eight veterans were awarded as the government honors their existence. Some of them are spouses of the late veterans and some of them could no longer stand nor walk on their own. Dinalupihan Bataan Veterans President Felicisima Beltran expressed her gratitude to Congressman Joet Garcia and Congresswoman Geraldine Roman for passing a bill that increases the monthly pension of war veterans under the Republic Act No. 11164.
Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Marines Drum and Bugle Corps, and Philippine Airforce Drumline left the crowd in awe with their drumline exhibition in their complete uniform which makes it more entertaining.
The winners for the Float parade are as follows: 1st place Samal, 2nd place Pilar, and 3rd place City of Balanga.
