BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member is seeking the assistance of the eleven (11) municipal mayors and the city mayor here in the conduct of an inventory of housing and commercial facilities to come up with a workable and systematic urban planning scheme.
Board Member Rolando Z. Tigas, chairman of the SP Committee on Housing and Land Utilization, said the inventory of housing and commercial establishments in the province would be the first phase to provide solution to the anticipated shortage of housing units while the local economy continues to grow with the expansion of seven (7) ecozones and one tourism enterprise zone.
In assessing the local scenario, BM Tigas from the first district of Bataan, said real estate and property management developers from Metro Manila and Central Luzon have exercised utmost prudent based on market demand and scientific land development analysis in constructing private subdivisions and business complexes near the province’s industrial zones.
The province should oversee the processing of housing data to competently pinpoint the areas suitable for healthy conditions toward well-planned urban development in achieving inclusive growth, Board member Tigas added.
Tigas, a former Samal town mayor and one of the most respected contractors in Central Luzon, observed the expanding access to decent, affordable and secure shelter has been difficult for the housing developers primarily due to rapid urbanization and limited availability of affordable lands.
He added that the government has pursued a policy of balanced housing development with the on-going constructionboom in the upland sections of Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Hermosa, Pilar and Balanga City.
