BALANGA CITY, Bataan- A former accountant of a government information office in Pampanga is pleasantly surprised by the industrial and commercial growth of Bataan peninsula in the aspect of developing world-class historical sites and reliable revenue–earning tourism industry.
Ms. Nitz Malit , who migrated to America about two decades ago, has explained the pristine beaches and natural parks complemented by scenic springs and waterfalls as well as historical markets provide a setting for healthy tourism investment in the province.
She cited the coastal waters of Bagac and Morong swarming with abundant unique fish species, coral reefs, sea grass and breeding areas for marine turtle and facing the colorful and panoramic vista of West Philippine Sea.
Ms. Malit has suggested the Department of Tourism and the National Historical Commission should undertake exhaustive long range strategic plan of creating more substantial travel and tourism package and historical commission to rejuvenate the rich cultural tradition and chronological past to motivate visitors to know more of its contribution to the national heritage.
According to DOT, the increasing number of tourist arrivals coming from Metro Manila and Central Luzon have benefitted more than 50 beach resorts in Bagac and Morong towns as well as natures’ recreational areas located in the slope of Mount Bataan National Park including the internationally known heritage resort, Las Casa Filipinas de Acuzar, in the coastal village of Pag-asa, Bagac town, this province.
Likewise,Nick S. Ancheta, Bagac municipal administrator has constantly informed Mayor Louise Gabriel Q. Del Rosario about the latest developments in the local travel and tourism industry as a result of the extensive promotional and marketing positive approaches launched by the Municipal Tourism Council.
Ancheta has extolled the business friendly scheme introduced by the local resort owners association which is significantly geared toward improving their facilities and services .
According to Ancheta, tourist arrivals reportedly thrice the number of vacationers registered last year with the continuous programs of resort and restaurant owners and the local government authorities to diversify tourism destination sites like improvement of waterfalls and mountain trekking activities for nature lovers.
