BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Going by what our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal said, “Ang Kabataan ang Pagasa ng Bayan” therefore, we must take care of our children and youth by providing their needs and teaching them good manners and right conduct.
Just recently, the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) awarded the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) to the 11 Municipalities and 1 City of Bataan during the traditional flag raising ceremony held at the Bataan Peoples’ Center, this morning, October 15.
Present in the awarding are Gov. Abet Garcia, Vice Governor Cris Garcia, Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia, Orani Mayor Efren Pascual, Samal Mayor Gene dela Fuente, Mariveles Mayor Ace Concepcion, and representatives of various municipalities. Also present are Ms. Ma. Edna L. Estal from the Council for the Protection of Children, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Director Ms. Gemma Gabuya, who earlier handed over to Gov. Abet a check worth Php 33,340,000 for the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the province.
In his message, Gov. Abet thanked the DSWD – Region 3 for its allocation of Php 33,340,000 that will be of big help for the Bataeños for it will be a source of income to lower the poverty incidence and improve the economic status of our province.
The awarding was organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) – Bataan headed by Ms. Marilyn Tigas thru the guidance of the CWC with their representative, The SCFLG is the strategy developed in relation to the Child-Friendly Framework presented by the Philippines to the United Nations Convention on the rights of the Child (UN CRC).
Gov. Abet also encouraged all the Mayors and officials to support the 1 Million Trees for 1 Bataan (1M41B) project of the Provincial Government by promoting it to their constituents.
The Governor also commended Bataan 2nd District Representative Joet Garcia for donating four (4) units of ambulance to be used by the MBDA and the Mariveles District Hospital for emergency and disaster response.
The hardworking governor also happily announced that our driving experience along the Roman Expressway will be much safer because of the streetlights installed by the Peninsula Electric Cooperative (PENELCO).
