HERMOSA, Bataan – On his first day in office, after the traditional flag raising ceremony and inaugural session of the municipal council here, municipal mayor Jopet Inton subjected himself to a mandatory drug test being conducted by Bataan Crime Laboratory officials.
Inton, in his first media briefing with local journalists, said this is in support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs.
“Sinimulan ko ito sa aking tanggapan magmula sa inyong lingkod, vice mayor, sa mga konsehal, hanggang sa mga kawani ng ating pamahalaan,” Mayor Inton told 1Bataan.com.
The first-termer mayor added that after the drug test at the municipal hall, all officials and employees of the municipality’s 23 barangays (villages) will also undergo the test.
Inton expressed that this is a good start before they conduct their own version of anti-illegal drugs campaign.
“Syempre bago tayo gumawa ng ating anti illegal drugs campaign kailangan linisin muna natin ang atig sariling mga hanay,” Inton added.
Meanwhile, regular municipal employees here, Inton said, who will be found positive for illegal drugs use will be subjected to legal procedures before being dismissed or fired from employment while for the job order employees, their contracts will not be renewed.
