BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A week after the soft opening of the Mariveles District Hospital, residents of the populous municipality welcome its much anticipated operation.
Not fully aware that the newly opened district hospital still has to undergo three phases, many patients find it frustrating that the services being offered for the time being, are in the out patient department such as animal bite treatment, family planning, smoking cessation, basic laboratory and pharmacy which are under the phase 1.
Dr. Hector Santos, MDH Chief of hospital explained that operating a hospital is not like operating any other business or institution; he added that just because there is already a building and personnel, it can operate as a full blown hospital. “We are dealing with human lives that is why the DOH is very strict in implementing rules to ensure that patients are safely served”.
Santos likewise emphasized that during phase 1, the hospital cannot yet admit patients because aside from the fact that they still need more equipment, they’re still waiting for the final accreditation from the DOH.
Early 2019, MDH will enter phase 2 and the hospital will be fully equipped for a full operation.
For phase 3, Santos reiterated Gov. Abet Garcia’s message during the soft opening that MDH will undergo rapid expansion and upgrading making it the most modern hospital in Central Luzon, that is why many are now interested to offer PPP project with the hospital to make it the fastest, most efficient and most responsive to the growing needs of Mariveles and the FAB community.
