BALANGA, Bataan – A-78 year old former Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member and Pilar town mayor has observed the migration of small and medium entrepreneurs and job seekers to the economic zones and industrial growth areas have contributed heavily to the economic growth of the historic peninsula.
Teodoro Pizarro , a three-termer Bataan provincial board member ,made his analytical and comprehensive opinions based on the substantial transformation of the former agriculturally established province into eco-industrial estate with the creation of then Bataan Export Processing Zone Authority ( BEPZA) , the first in the country , and later on as Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan the Petrochemical Industrial complex, both located in the industrial town of Mariveles and the operations of the largest oil refinery, power plant and other industries in Barangay Lamao,Limay .
He explained with the entry of foreign and local investment consortia and small and medium enterprises rekindle the sustainable expansion in the demographic prestige in the periphery of the industrial sites and export manufacturing standings.
The former municipal mayor has perceived the important role of Bataan as the gateway to the country’s political, social and economic center energized by the rapid growth of population could be attributed to migration factor.
Based on the population census, the province population annually increases at the rate of 2.74 % ,highest in Central Luzon and higher than than the national average of 2.2 %.
The former mayor of the agricultural town of Pilar emphasizes the unlimited opportunities for employment and livelihood brought about by the mounting economic development in the province entice people to settle in Bataan.
