CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – Last January 15, 2019 the National Food Authority Bataan Provincial Office bagged its first Red Orchid Award during the 7th Central Luzon Excellence for Health (CLExAH) held at Royce Hotel, Clark City, Pampanga.
NFA-Bataan Provincial Manager Ms. Adelaida C. Nuestro together with Tobacco Control Program Coordinator Ms. Evelyn M. Sunglao received the award.
The red orchid award (followed by the pink and white orchid awards respectively), is the highest award given by the Department of Health (DOH) in its search for 100% tobacco-free provinces, municipalities, cities, government offices, hospitals, and DOH health centers for health development. It follows the World Health Organization (WHO) framework convention on tobacco control that recommends adoption of measures to provide protection from exposure to smoke in indoor workplaces, public transport and other public places.
NFA-Bataan will continuously implement the “No Smoking Policy” and establish firm regulations against smoking in public places.
