BALANGA CITY, Bataan – National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) activated the 24/7 operations of its Overall Command Center from May 12 to 14 successfully securing power transmission operations and facilities during the just concluded mid-term elections.
NGCP Regional Corporate Communication Officer Fely Francisco said contingency plans were placed for the monitoring and quickly address.
She said since May 13 has been declared a special non-working day, critical units of NGCP such as System Operations and Operations and Maintenance remained fully staffed and operational.
Line crews, engineers, pilots, maintenance and testing, and other technical personnel were also strategically positioned in NGCP substations, she also said.
Francisco said NGCP Integrated Disaster Action Plan prescribed these and other measures for readiness of all power transmission facilities during the elections.
She also said the Overall Command Center started activation since April 29 operating from 8am to 5pm monitoring grid disturbances and the overall power situation.
