HERMOSA, BATAAN – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the local government of Hermosa, recently inked a memorandum of agreement thru the NGCP’s “Bukas na Pintuan tungo sa Pagbabago” project, a livelihood support to drug reformists as their social contribution to the government to uplift and provide opportunities to all those who have lost their way due to drug addiction.
Ms. Lida May C. Lopez, head of NGCP’s Community Relations, said that Hermosa is the 4th municipality in the province that NGCP has extended the same project; the other three are Orion, Dinalupihan and Balanga City since 2017, based on the declaration of Bataan as the first drug-free province in the country, as well as, their commitment which can be seen in their Bahay Pagbabago.
Ms. Lopez said that their project has 3 objectives, namely: as a support to drug reformists in bahay pagbabago centers thru skills training, to aid in employment by providing more skilled workers and to forge relationship with the local government units and communities hosting their transmission lines.
NGCP turned-over to the LGU of Hermosa thru Mayor Joseph Inton a check amounting to P2.7 M for the welding training project of 200 reformists who will undergo 12 months of training under the TESDA.
Mayor Inton in his message said that he is very thankful to NGCP for this project as he believes this will be a big help to all the reformists who will be armed with skills for livelihood after their rehabilitation.
PNP Prov’l Director Marcelo Dayag likewise said that this project of NGCP has enhanced the lives of the reformists and helped in the decrease of crime incidence in the province resulting to, Bataan being awarded the biggest percentage in crime solution in Region 3. Although according to him Gov. Abet Garcia always reminds him to be vigilant to make Bataan a peaceful place to work and live.
