CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Central Luzon invites regional government agencies to join its first-ever office food garden contest.
“The primary objective of this contest dubbed ‘Gulayan sa Aming Tanggapan’ is to develop food gardens at the workplaces,” NNC Nutrition Officer III Angelita Pasos said.
It is one of the highlights of the region’s launching of the 44th Nutrition Month celebration with the theme “Ugaliing magtanim , Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin”.
Said contest is open to all member-agencies of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC), as well as other agencies within the regional government center.
“A group of 6-10 staff per office/agency shall establish the office’s food garden, with their names included in the entry form and with endorsement of the Head of Office and/or Division Chief,” Pasos said.
She added that a photo of the specific space with a floor area of 2×10 square meters shall be submitted along with the entry form.
The group should also like and share NNC’s Facebook fan page and invite 10 of their co-employees to do the same to qualify.
“Entries that will qualify will be given a set of planting materials including grab hoe and shovel, vegetable seeds and seedlings. However, the participating agency may also plant ‘pinakbet’, ‘sinigang’ and ‘tinola’ combination of crops,” she said.
Entries shall be judged based on the following criteria: climate smart – 25%; crop combination and/or variety—50%; landscape design –10 %; and overall impact – 15%.
The grand winner will take home PhP10,000; second prize – PhP7,000 and ; third prize – PhP5,000.

The contest will run from July 9 to August 20, 2018. Winners will be declared during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony tentatively set on August 24.
