BAGAC, Bataan – About P15 million worth of socio-economic enhancement projects are expected to be downloaded directly to the 14 barangays of this town this year under the bottom-up-budgeting (BUB) funds of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Nick Ancheta, municipal administrator of Bagac, described the BUB program of empowering local government units and promoting peoples’ participation in deciding what projects to be prioritized depending on their needs.
He cited the projects to be implemented this year under BUB are infrastructure projects namely expansion of water supply systems, livelihood, post harvest agricultural services and improvement of day care center facilities.
Ancheta lauded the BUB program in the countryside as effective measuring mechanism in determining the competency of barangay leaders to manage the public funds and properly utilize the budget for greater purposes.
He said the municipal government had allocated P 2.5 million while the national government counterpart pegged at P 12.5 million or a total of P 15 million under the BUB program.
He added the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) is readying a P20 million worth of infrastructure facilities, livelihood and other revenue generating projects in different coastal villages under the BUB scheme for the year 2017.
