DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – In her bid to help her constituents living along the riverbanks have safe and decent dwellings, Mayor Gila Garcia of this town, coordinated with the National Housing Authority (NHA) for 500 families to be transferred to their new housing units in Brgy Saguing, this town.
Mayor Gila said that she knows how hard it is for her constituents to adjust in a new environment and at the same time to pay the monthly amortization for the new housing unit. Hence after coordinating with NHA, it has been agreed upon that families will only have to pay P300 a month, the lowest rate NHA could offer, which they believe is very affordable for these families.
The Mayor said that at first, they were only able to transfer 85 families. They had to temporarily stop the transfer when they found out that there was a problem in the supply of potable water. After coordinating with the DOH and the water district for a good supply of water, transfer resumed.
Mayor Gila, assisted by the DPWH, have approved the concreting of the road going to the new housing units, funds coming from the P6M Bottom up Budgetting (BuB)
She also mentioned that plans are underway to make the new site a complete community by having a satellite barangay station, a day care center, a primary school and livelihood projects for the families to have other sources of income.
With P300 as monthly amortization for their new housing unit, mayor Gila said those who have been transferred will still be given a grace period of 1 year before they start paying the monthly fees for four consecutive years.
