Road widening program contributes to economic growth

BALANGA CITY, Bataan -The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) here is intimately appraising the strategic importance of Roman Expressway expansion project in the second Congressional district of the province as essential approaches toward eco-industrial prosperity of the historic peninsula.

Engineer Ulysses C. Llado, DPWH district engineer, of the Bataan 2nd Engineering District explained the DPWH has programmed P 1.4 billion for the widening of 39 kilometer road network from Balanga City to the industrial town of Mariveles in Southern Bataan.

However, Engineer Llado gave details of the budgetary allocation  for the proposed eight lane road  program excludes the acquisition of the right of way which he is expected to confront in the clearing of Mariveles section  and the earth balling of 4,325 trees from this City  and  four towns of Pilar, Orion, Limay and Mariveles

The DPWH is focusing on the completion of the three kilometer section of Roman Expressway in Pilar town worth about P 200 million which the Agency is expected to complete before the end of this year 2018.

He described the road widening program of the province’s main thoroughfare as an excellent opportunity for acquiring quality infrastructure facilities in pursuing outstanding mechanism for a workable and sustainable economic growth as envisioned by Bataan Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia and Rep. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III of the province’s second district.

The effective implementation of the road infrastructure network would hasten the socio-economic development plan of the local officials in motivating local and foreign locators to Bataan which is looked upon as one of the premier investment hubs in Central Luzon.

The unabated design of the national economic planners to decongest Metro Manila of industrial and manufacturing firms illustrates the increasing enthusiasm of investors to participate in the healthy and friendly business climate in the province.
