PILAR, Bataan — Samal National High School placed first in the Provincial Civil Registration On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Stanley Franz Gatchalian bested nine other high school students winning a certificate and PhP3,000 cash prize.
According to Gatchalian, his artwork reflects the need for civil registration in documenting one’s identity such as registration of birth, marriage and death. He also stated that his work raises awareness on the innovative ways of recording personal information in civil registration.
PSA Bataan Chief Statistical Specialist Ledesma Morante said the winning artwork will be the province’s entry in the regional level.
“This is the second provincial poster making contest that we have conducted. Last year, it’s unfortunate that we didn’t make it in the top three but I hope we can win this time,” Morante said.
Participants were Grade 7 to 10 students representing each municipality and city in the province.
Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of Ophelia Creatives artist Ana Patricia, Provincial Environment and Natural Office Supervising Environment Management Nenette Suguitan and Land Transportation Office Bataan Registration Department head Ronald Dabu.
The activity is part of the celebration of the 2019 Civil Registration Month which carries the theme, “Inclusive and Responsive CVRS: Working Smarter through Innovation.”
