MARIVELES, Bataan – The San Miguel Corp. is set to construct another 600MW of coal-fired power plant in the remote coastal barangay of Biaan, in this highly-industrialized town in Southern Bataan.
Lawyer Ace Jello “ AJ” Concepcion, Mayor-elect of this industrial town, expressed optimism that more job opportunities and revenues for the municipal and provincial coffers are expected once the power plant goes into full-blast operation.
Outgoing three-termer Mayor Jesse Concepcion said that the economic activities in the remote barangay will become robust with the construction of a 600 MW coal-fired power plant to be constructed in the proposed 500-hectare industrial estate in the coastal village of Biaan.
Mayor-elect Concepcion said that corporate and technical officials of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) had already conducted ocular inspection and assessment of the site which would be the seventh economic zone in the province.
The young Concepcion, being a member of the council prior to his election as mayor, had earlier passed a resolution requiring investors and locators to hire seventy (70) percent of their labor force from the local residents.
