BALANGA CITY, Bataan - The opening of the multi-million peso Starmall Prime Bataan, the most modern shopping complex in the province, is a significant mixed use facility for global business process outsourcing (BPO) firm to employ some 3,000 workers and to ensure economic prosperity in the province.
Norman Guila, barangay chair of Cupang Proper, this City, explained the enormous advantages and benefits for local residents and the province of the Starmall which will bring substantial economic impact for the micro, small and medium –sized enterprises.
Guila said businessmen have started building commercial and service –oriented outlets in the vicinity of Starmall complex preparatory to its operation possibly in May, this year.
According to Guila, he is confident that the establishment of the biggest mixed use facility is a systematic conversion of less-productive land to highly-commercialized landscape for greater employment and business opportunities for the residents .
The Starmall shopping complex occupies about 9 hectares of conveniently located land near the Camella Homes, a housing subdivision for middle–income earners, owned by former Senate President Manuel Villar, whose mother is a native of Orani.
Guila said he expects more revenues for the barangay treasury with the full-operation of the Starmall which would be allocated for health, education and social projects; improvement of infrastructure and other necessary facilities for effective and efficient delivery of basic services.
Hundreds of traders from nearby provinces have inquired about the possibility of partnership deals with their local counterparts principally in the construction of apartment, residential and housing units for the expected influx of workers and businessmen in the locality, Guila added.
