BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A top official of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has guaranteed the steady and adequate supply of power is a strategic component to achieve sustainable growth.
Engr. Napoleon Viterbo, head of NGCP Northern Luzon operation and maintenance, Bataan-Zambales area, described the significant function of power to boost the eco-industrial development program of Bataan Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia of providing sufficient electricity to the fast growing industrial center in Central Luzon, Freeport Area of Bataan and Petrochemical Industrial Estate, both in Mariveles town.
Engineer Viterbo said the operation of several power plants in the Bataan peninsula is basically a major incentive for investors to construct their export-oriented manufacturing firms and high– tech industries in the provinces’ seven economic zones which are geographically-located to the country’s major seaports and airport facilities.
The power plants located in Bataan have contributed immensely to the country’s energy requirements through the NGCP transmission system and towers for distribution to factories, commercial, electric cooperatives and other government and private entities in Luzon area, Engr. Viterbo added.
Aside from fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, the multi-national firms and local businessmen are preferably looking for stable power supply to ensure production of highly-exportable items to the world market.
