PILAR, Bataan – With their vision to be the center of excellence in providing a holistic treatment for victims of illegal substance, the Bataan Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (TRC) recently held a drug summit for all barangay officials of the province at Raven Resort, Abucay.
Dr. Liz Pizarro-Serrano explained that through the seminar, they could maximize the unity of the different sectors in Bataan especially in the community to help our drug reformists rebuild their lives and make them better, more productive citizens of the province and hopefully erase the stigma of a being a former drug dependent.
Dr. Liz Serrano, TRC Director for Bataan added that with their current one thousand recovered patients, they have been conducting programs about families like, “a day with Lolo and Lola,” adopt a child, color fun run, photography and music video and others, not only for the individuals to overcome boredom but to have a homey atmosphere because they know that they are missing their families and relatives.
Bataan TRC is trying to beat their record of being no.3, out of the 15 DOH TRCs in the whole country based on the UP survey of best services and programs as well as no.3 in the recent DOH evaluation that they’re coming up with piloting a reformation center with all the agencies working as one with the main objective on programs that will help our drug recovery patients/reformists to be “new persons” when they go back to their respective communities, armed with the skills that will help them in their livelihood.
The barangay officials, according to Dr. Liz, play important roles in the community, for they will guide these drug reformists to avoid association with former peers known to be related to drugs and hopefully come up with the Bagong Pag-asa progam.
