BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Family sacrifices and perseverance bore fruit for the son of a tricycle driver from this city who is now a registered nutritionist.
“My family sacrificed a lot and I persevered to finish my BS Nutrition course at University of the East”, narrated Ricardo M. Dianela from Barangay Malabia who recently passed the board examination for nutritionist and dietician.
“My father was a former OFW and he was able to save for me and my brother’s schooling, but he has long been here as a tricycle driver while my mother is a cash custodian in a local supermarket”, Dianela said who was a university and college scholar.
“Although there was already a prepared budget for college , still it was not enough and I had to make both ends meet given the high cost of education”, he said.
“I was serious and focused, I did not take for granted my studies”, he added.
“I advise other students to take education seriously. Study hard. Let family be the inspiration and most importantly do not forget God”, he added.
His brother is now a 4th year student at UE Manila and is a beneficiary of the Iskolar ng Bataan program.
Equipped with a BS degree, Dianela can now look for a better future ahead not only for him but also for his family.
