SAMAL, Bataan – One of the world’s leading agro-industrial and food conglomerates is leading in the mangrove tree planting program in the coastal areas of East Calaguiman, this town, as part of their corporate responsibility of protecting the ecosystem for marine species.
Mr. Rodelito Calara, chief of Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) of Samal town, has discussed the role of Charoen Pokhand Foods (CPF) Philippines located in the upland village of Gugo, this town,which operates in both the livestock swine, broilers, layers and ducks and aquaculture shrimp and fish businesses.
He expounded the Thai company has been closely observing the implementation of modern techniques on marine biodiversity scheme laid down by Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and municipal officials to achieve a more sustainable growth of aquatic resources in the locality.
Mr. Calara said the company has completed tree planting projects of more than five hectares expanse of the province’s fast developing industrial center in the Northern Bataan town’s coastal area .
The aqua-feed mill has maintained a caretaker to oversee the protective ecosystem posture and ensure the mangroves habitat for the fisherfolks.
The plant manages both the livestock (swine, broilers, layers, and ducks) and aquaculture (shrimp and fish) businesses which vertically integrated enterprises on the manufacturing of animal feed, animal breeding and animal farming; meat processing, the manufacturing of semi-cooked meat and fully-cooked meat; food products and ready meal products, as well as the meat and food retailer and restaurant businesses from Thailand to over 30 countries.
The Company’s feed mills are equipped with boilers that use biomass such as husk, corn cobs, palm and firewood instead of fossil fuels, in order to mitigate the effect on the environment. Moreover, the plant installed dust filters and ozone technology to reduce dust and odor from the production process that may impact surrounding community near the firm’s facilities.
